What Is SEO? Who Needs It and Why?
SEO is an acronym, which stands for Search Engine Optimization.
It’s purpose is best described as a process which increases your sites visibility in the search engines.
Who Needs SEO?
Whether you’re a blogger, marketer, webmaster of any sort, activist, philanthropist, or someone in need of a strong online presence, you need SEO.
Why?
Think about how many times you’ve searched for information using particular keyword(s) and were discouraged to find that your needs were not being met?
Fact: A majority of people will not venture past the first page of SERPs. And, of course, even less will travel past the second.
Definition of SERP: Search Engine Results Page. The page that users see after typing their search query into an engine.
Once you’ve found that your initial keyword(s) were not as useful as you’d hoped, it’s likely you changed direction and performed yet another search using a different keyword(s).
After you attempt and fail a couple/few times, you may give up or settle for the link that is nearest to what you’d hoped for.
With thousands or possibly millions of links available, it’s likely that your needs could’ve been met, had the webmaster/blogger used SEO to optimize their site for the keyword(s) you were searching for.
Don’t be fooled by supposed “gurus” who make it seem that they are Einsteins of science and have all the answers to your SEO needs. There are many free and accessible ebooks, tutorials, videos, whitepapers, etc for your SEO education. In fact, I’ll be posting a free instruction guide in the near future.
If you decide to optimize your site, it will significantly improve your sites traffic within a relatively short period of time.
SEO is easy to learn and fun. But beware! Once you see how cool it is, you’ll start creating blogs just so you can optimize them. Then you’re destined for geekdom.
