This course provides an overview of Windows SharePoint Services v3 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. You will become familiar with the differences between the two SharePoint products as well as build a foundation to start developing solutions for SharePoint 2007. This course walks you through creating an application that takes advantage of the new features of SharePoint. You will get a look at developing Web Parts and custom Workflows for SharePoint, both of which are the key to developing solutions with SharePoint. You will also learn about the SharePoint Object Model, Event Handlers, and SharePoint Web Services.
In this course, you will learn:
What functionality Windows SharePoint Server v3 provides.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 enhancements and key services.
Key concepts like Content Types and Sites Columns and their uses.
How SharePoint 2007 uses a new concept called Features.
How to create Alerts and RSS.
What Web Parts are and how to create and deploy them.
Workflows integrated with SharePoint Designer and SharePoint 2007.
Design custom Workflows with Visual Studio 2005.
How to use the SharePoint Object Model and Web Services.
How Event Handlers are used in SharePoint.
How to apply all these technologies to a real world application.
A basic understanding of .NET and ASP.NET, and experience with SharePoint 2003 are all helpful, but not required. No particular programming experience is required, but the course is taught from a developer's perspective

We are aware of issues between the Microsoft DRM (Digital Rights Management) security that our training videos use, and the Vista OS. There is a patch below that should get your software activated:
We've updated the AppDev Learning Engine (ALE) to work with Microsoft DRM technology when using the Microsoft Vista operating system. Please follow the steps below to obtain the updated ALE installer:
Step 1) If the AppDev Learning Engine (ALE) is already installed, please proceed to step 4.
Step 2) Right-click "autorun.exe" located on your AppDev CD/DVD and choose "Run as Administrator".
Step 3) Follow the steps to install the AppDev Learning Engine. If already installed, please close StartALE.
Step 4) Download and run the following ALE installer: http://dl.appdev.com/update/APP/SetupPatch-vsta.exe
Step 5) After installing the updated ALE, please right-click on "autorun.exe" located on the root of your AppDev CD/DVD & choose to "Run as Administrator".
Step 6) Verify your version of ALE by selecting the "Support" tab. You should see "v2.3" located on the lower-right. Clicking this text will show you the installed version and the version located on your AppDev CD/DVD.
Your version of StartALE should now be up-to-date. Please proceed to install and run the course. Enjoy the training! Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: There is a known bug in Microsoft Vista that may cause a window to appear with the error "EVP / bad image". This error is caused by an incompatible driver with the Vista Multimedia Framework and Microsoft is working on a patch. Unfortunately, we do not have a date when a patch will be available. This "error" window appears in the start of the training and can be removed by clicking OK until the message
